Do you need a growth partner?

In 2022, after almost two decades in business, Vince Wuebker, founder and CEO of HotSpring Spas and Pool Tables 2, sensed that his company of 50 people had outgrown their current structure. But his leadership team wasn’t sure where to turn.

Fortunately for Vince, a friend referred him to FiveFour and that was exactly what they needed. Of FiveFour, he said, “it’s like Traction, but even better.”

Vince said that he and his Fargo, North Dakota-based company got three primary benefits from their work with FiveFour:

  1. They defined their culture and put it at the center of everything they do.
  2. They learned how to achieve goals faster than they ever thought possible.
  3. They had development for everyone on the team.

Culture. Vince had always understood the importance of business culture, but FiveFour made it real. “I didn’t know what to expect, and at times it felt like our work with FiveFour was just going through the motions,” Vince said. “But it’s hard to describe how magical it’s been or to explain how drastic the transformation has been.

The change since we started 18 months ago is incredible, but I get even more excited trying to imagine what it will be like three years from now.”

Goals. “We had set goals before, but this was different. We chose our wildly important goal after asking ourselves, ‘what one thing we could do right now to change that would make the biggest difference in our company.’ Once we set our goal, Nathan, as our Growth Partner, kept us focused on it when maybe our focus wanted to go other directions.”

“After identifying it, we can’t believe how quickly we achieved it and what it did for the company has been beyond my wildest expectations. What made it happen was getting the employees who are helping to achieve it rallied behind it. That’s what they care about now!”

Development. “We had tried improvement programs in the past, but they didn’t stick. When we started working with FiveFour, our employees were like, ‘we’ve tried this before, but nothing ever changes.’ Now, everyone is working better together and acknowledging how much things have improved. This isn’t just about company training, it’s also about personal development. Even at 57 years old, I’m learning things that I need to be doing.”

For all the benefits that have come from working with FiveFour, they wrestled with the decision of when to get started because they had so many big projects in the works. “You’re always going to be too busy,” Vince said, “so you can’t let that be the excuse preventing you from doing something that should be part of your business. FiveFour has helped me be more disciplined with my time to do what we need to do to move the business forward.”

FiveFour is now part of the business. “I can tell that Nathan cares about how we’re doing. Sometimes he has to tell us stuff that we don’t want to hear or shift our focus in another direction.,” said Vince. But he has become an important part of our business as we strive to grow and become even more successful than we already are.”

I’m inspired by the work that Vince and his team have done and excited to see where they go next. They have some ambitious growth goals that are within the realm of possibility now that they’ve done the hard work of putting the people and processes in place.
