December is my trigger to start thinking about business goals for the next year. My process has two main steps.
First, I go through my last four quarterly FLOW Planners, looking at where I spent my time, the wins I had, the goals I achieved, and the lessons learned.
That time is critical because we don’t learn from our experiences. We learn from reflecting on our experiences.
It also sets me up for the second thing.
Discovering my One Word.
The “One Word” process brings clarity through one simple action. It’s based on the book “One Word That Will Change Your Life,” by Jon Gordon, Jimmy Page and Dan Britton.
Discovering your One Word is about starting with a “to be goal” before all of your “to do” goals. I have found it to be a transformative approach to a new year.
I encourage you to buy the book and reach out to me if you want to use the workbook that I use to guide my clients through the process. Connect with me and I will send it to you.
You never know. It just might change your life.
